METHODOLOGICAL INFORMATION

Description of Dataset
This dataset contains vegetation biomass and plant nutrient analysis data collected from the Clifton Integrated Constructed Wetland (ICW) during 2025.

The dataset includes:

* aboveground biomass measurements,
* belowground biomass measurements,
* plant nutrient concentrations,
* and nutrient storage estimates.

The dataset was generated to investigate:

* vegetation productivity,
* phosphorus uptake,
* nitrogen storage,
* belowground nutrient accumulation,
* and the contribution of wetland vegetation to nutrient retention processes.

Description of Data Collection
Vegetation samples were collected from multiple locations throughout the wetland treatment system using quadrat-based sampling approaches.

Plant biomass was separated into:

* aboveground biomass,
* and belowground biomass.

Measured parameters may include:

* Biomass productivity
* Total phosphorus concentration
* Total nitrogen concentration
* Carbon concentration
* Carbon:nitrogen ratios
* Nutrient storage estimates

Analytical Methods

Vegetation Sampling
Vegetation biomass was collected using standard quadrat sampling procedures.

Aboveground and belowground biomass fractions were separated manually following sample collection.

Sample Preparation
Plant samples were washed where necessary, oven dried to constant weight, and homogenised prior to analysis.

Drying procedures were undertaken at approximately 60°C until constant dry weight was achieved.

Nutrient Analysis
Plant phosphorus and nitrogen analyses were undertaken using laboratory digestion and analytical procedures.

Phosphorus analysis was undertaken following acid digestion procedures where applicable.

Carbon and nitrogen analyses were undertaken using elemental analysis techniques where applicable.

Biomass and Nutrient Storage Calculations
Biomass productivity and nutrient storage estimates were calculated using measured biomass and nutrient concentration data.

Experimental Conditions
Sampling was undertaken under operational full-scale wastewater treatment wetland conditions during 2025.

Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC)

* Replicate measurements were collected where applicable.
* Biomass preparation procedures were standardised across samples.
* Laboratory analyses followed standard analytical procedures.
* Samples were analysed using calibrated instrumentation.
* Data were checked for transcription and calculation errors prior to analysis.
* Missing values were retained as blank cells where applicable.
